Bali has a huge mountain called, in English, "Mother Mountain." A day's trip by car is only part way up the mountain. Unexpectedly, Bali is a spiritual and artistic place and Mother Mountain is its center. A few "spiritual retreats" are tucked into the crevasses of the mountains, some run by "new age" or old "hippie" Americans as well as monks. The mountain is alluring and poetically beautiful. Breathtaking! This is a painting done at sunrise.
